ARCHITECT@WORK: The “living room” of architecture

12 January 2018

Over 2,000 visitors at the second edition in Rome

The second edition of ARCHITECT@WORK in Rome enjoyed great success with an increase in visitor numbers and with reports of numerous, successful conversations where information was exchanged. Again this year, the aim was to introduce a selected number of companies selling quality products to a qualified audience of designers.

From 11th to 12th October, at the Fiera di Roma, architects met approximately 100 companies from a wide range of product categories, from ceramics to lighting, door and window frames to flooring. All companies selected were manufacturers of products considered excellent in terms of the quality of materials used, functional and technological innovation and their aesthetics. It was also important for manufacturers that focus on specific market segments to meet the market their products are targeted at.

As in all editions of ARCHITECT@WORK, a relaxed atmosphere was created for the exchange of information and to encourage new partnerships and collaboration. Traditional fairs can be rushed, but ARCHITECT@WORK has eliminated the chaos and difficulty associated with navigation, allowing its visitors to devote all the time necessary for research and to receive detailed answers. Hence, the fair received a record 2,045 visitors from the sector, with a 6% increase in attendance compared to the previous edition.

The theme of the 2017 edition of ARCHITECT@WORK was “Water and Architecture.”

In this context, the exhibition “Water, Architecture and Materials,” curated by the architect Arianna Callocchia, together with DDN and OFARCH, generated much interest. The exhibition presented recent Italian and international projects, where water and the materials used in the projects’ construction are the central theme, with all elements positioned on 24 cylinders that formed suggestive waves.

The four seminars, which were truly extraordinary in terms of their public success, were conducted by key players of architectural research and were inspired by the aquatic theme. Two talks were scheduled per day: Wednesday 11/10 “Two Spas: Beirut and Trieste” - Studio Lazzarini Pickering, followed by “Vertical City” - Studio Luca Curci Architects; Thursday 12/10 “A Collective Project” - Studio Piuarch; “Water, Architecture and Materials” - the Architect Arianna Callocchia. Training credits were assigned for all the talks.

The special guest at the opening of the event was the Chairman of the Association of Architect Planners, Landscapers and Conservationists of the Province of Rome, Alessandro Ridolfi, who introduced the second edition of ARCHITECT@WORK Rome with a short speech to the professionals in the packed conference room.

Two Italian editions of Architect at Work are scheduled for 2018, one in Rome and one in Milan:

- ARCHITECT@WORK Rome 2018 will be held 17-18 October at Fiera di Roma

- ARCHITECT@WORK Milano 2018 will be held 14-15 November at MiCo

More information on ARCHITECT@WORK:

- Only innovative products that have obtained the approval of a technical committee of architects and interior designers can be presented during the event.

- The exhibitors present their innovative products on stands and exhibition booths that are uniform and customised to a very high level in terms of appearance, which means the focus is on the products and the event can be efficiently viewed in a short space of time.

- A rigorous registration system ensures that only industry professionals, i.e. architects, interior designers and planners, visit the event.

- A series of special theme-based sessions (seminars conducted by architecture and design personalities, photo galleries, themed material exhibitions) make ARCHITECT@WORK a source of inspiration for visitors.

- Free catering, lounge areas and a pop-up library ensure a pleasant and informal atmosphere that is perfect for networking.

ARCHITECT@WORK is organised in Italy with the help of the Association of Architect Planners, Landscapers and Conservationists of the Province of Rome and the Association of Architect Planners, Landscapers and Conservationists of the Province of Milan, and training credits are recognised for those attending the seminars.
