Green façades: two iconic projects - 3 CFP

Arch. Marco Vigo, Arch Alessia Garibaldi, Arch. Giorgio Piliego (DC10 Architetti)

The relationship between the internal and external space as well as the theme of façades are interpreted through two examples of projects: Living Tortona in Milan and Euro Group in Bollate. Living Tortona is a residential project, where the architectural composition  is designed to create moving volumes, so that the façade is well visible from all angles. Green elements are integrated in the terrace slabs, which are veritable three-dimensional extensions of residential premises. The large glass areas and the materials and colours chosen for white metal sheets define an essential and elegant style. The housing units of the internal factory body enclose private patios on two levels, which create continuity between internal and external spaces, optimizing natural light flows. The industrial building created for Euro Group Spa enlarges the production area of a company leader in the sector of electric motors, just in its historical site in Bollate. The initial state of the area was subject to many landscape and urban constraints. Therefore, the façade design is marked by vertical green surfaces. The composition of prospectuses is based on the use of matrix printed concrete prefabricated panels, with the effect of waste paper and bow window in corten and methacrylate. The attention for construction details and volume proportion integrates the building in the environmental and scenic system of the Guisa River and Groane Park.
